EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCKWAVE THERAPY (ESWT) with the FOCUSED PIEZO SHOCKWAVE
ELVATION MEDICAL GMBH AND RICHARD WOLF GMBH – THE SHOCKWAVE THERAPY EXPERTS
SELF-HEALING IS A BIOLOGICAL PRINCIPLE
Focused extracorporeal shockwave systems are the only medical technology capable of generating mechanical pulses within the body which are precise, have varying penetration depths and are completely non-invasive. Extracorporeal shockwaves function as mechanical stressors which initiate biochemical changes in living tissue. A range of scientific publications and studies, some of which have also looked at focused piezo shockwaves, have demonstrated the efficacy of ESWT. Now successfully used to treat a range of different indications, ESWT is an established procedure for conservative medical treatment.
ESWT Piezo Shockwave Technology
FOCUSED AND PRECISE
Piezo-ceramic elements arrayed on a concave surface are briefly and simultaneously expanded by a few micrometers by the application of a high-voltage pulse to create a pressure pulse. The piezo elements are precisely aligned with the therapy focus. By precisely focusing the pulse, a shockwave is created in the focal treatment zone. Piezo shockwaves can be focused directly and do not require an additional reflector. This technology allows a compact therapy source design and creates a precise, well-defined focal zone. The technology is quiet and almost painless, and the intensity can be regulated independently with almost no effect on focal size. The piezo shockwave technology is also extremely durable. Depending on the version, therapy sources have a guaranteed lifespan of up to 5 million pulses. Therapy sources can be either single-layer or double-layer, depending on the required output and focal shape.
Gelpads
To achieve a fine, accurate and low-loss gradation of the penetration depth, uses the piezoshock wave replaceable gel pads. These are inserted as spacers and change the penetration depth in 5mm increments. The shape of the gel pads is chosen so that the imaginary extension of the conical outer surfaces has their point of intersection in the focal point. Depending on the therapy source used, penetration depths of 20 mm to 100 mm (focus central) are possible.
THERAPY SOURCES
Based on the PiezoWave²’s piezo single and double layer technology, a unique, never before realized, optional variation of therapy sources is achieved. Focused, planar and linearly focused. The best shockwave source for every indication.
